Moorings & Yard Services

We offer deep water, tidal and semi-tidal swing moorings, tidal pontoon berths & serviced hard standing. We are situated in a beautiful site of special scientific interest in Portsmouth Harbour.

Deep water and semi-tidal swing moorings

We have three mooring areas based around Portsmouth Harbour: Quay Lane, Bomb Ketch and Peewit Island.

The Quay Lane area is just off the Boatyard at Pile 18.  The moorings are semi drying onto mud. This is a popular mooring area being convenient for both the yard and the Hardway Public Slipway where access can be had at most states of the tide. LOA up to 26ft.

Bomb Ketch is located next to the main Admiralty channel at Pile 54. It’s suitable for boats with a LOA up to 28ft. Peewit Island is further up the Fareham Channel by Pile 48 LOA up to 40ft.

At Bomb Ketch and Peewit Island you can expect to be afloat at all states of the tide. At certain times of the year at very low spring tides it is possible that your boat may touch.

Tidal Pontoon Berths

The sheltered tidal pontoon berths are ideally suited to shallow draft boats. Tidal access time varies according to the draft of the boat. There is access to the Harbour for boats for about eight hours in every twenty four, being two hours either side of high tide. This tidal gate would be smaller for deeper drafts and larger for flat bottomed tenders. There is access to electricity and water on the pontoons. Reasonable use of water is provided free of charge. To use the Yard’s electricity customers must provide their own meter reader. Electricity is charged at the Yard’s current contracted rate.

Yard Services

We offer serviced hard standing & storage ashore for boats.

We have facilities to launch, bring ashore and crane boats up to 10 tons, with a maximum 5 foot 6” draft, and 36 foot in length on an appropriate tide. Mast craning, craning, jet washing, antifouling, painting and polishing are all available on site. We welcome anyone who wishes to work on their boat themselves as well as visiting contractors.

Mast storage is free of charge while your boat is in the yard.
